01 — Brand identity

Your visual system

Every page of the new site will feel unmistakably like All About Dogs — warm, trustworthy, and rooted in 40+ years of experience. Here's the visual foundation we'll build on.

Brand colors

Mint teal is the dominant brand color. Dark brown grounds the palette. Sage green adds earthy depth.

Typography

Headings — DM Serif Display
Better Care. Better Training. Better Life.
Body text — DM Sans
Boarding in Penn Valley and professional dog training in Grass Valley from an experienced local team.
Accent / quotes — Playfair Display
"We never worry when Daisy stays here."

Brand voice

"Like a trusted neighbor who happens to be a dog training expert. Passionate but not preachy."

We do

  • Speak with authority backed by 40+ years
  • Use warm, encouraging language about the dog-owner bond
  • Reference the local Nevada County community
  • Celebrate positive reinforcement and gentle methods
  • Use inviting CTAs, not pushy ones

We don't

  • Use clinical or overly technical jargon
  • Sound corporate or impersonal
  • Use fear-based language about dog behavior
  • Over-promise or make guarantees
  • Use generic pet industry clichés

Imagery direction

Real dogs, real trainers, real facility. Natural light. Dogs as the hero subject. Human-dog interaction emphasized. Outdoor Nevada County landscapes as context. Slight warmth filter. Circular or rounded-rect photo frames. Never generic stock photography.

Two locations, two funnels, one brand

All About Dogs serves two distinct customer needs from two locations. The new site routes visitors to the right place based on what their dog needs — not based on your company structure.

Penn Valley — "Stay"

14254 Oak Ridge Road, Penn Valley, CA 95946
Stay • Play • Train

The emotional sale: Reassurance. "Can I leave my dog and stop worrying?"

Services: Overnight boarding, day stay, private training during boarding

Primary CTA: Check Boarding Availability

No commitment. Tell us your dates and we'll confirm availability.

Grass Valley — "Learn"

131 Joerschke Dr, Grass Valley, CA 95945
Learn • Practice • Grow

The emotional sale: Aspiration and frustration. "Can you help fix this / teach us?"

Services: Puppy classes, obedience, agility, specialty, events, open gym

Primary CTA: Find the Right Class

Takes about 60 seconds. We'll help you choose the right starting point.

The key principle

Service first, location second. Visitors think "I need boarding" or "I need training" — not "I need the Penn Valley facility." The site routes by what the dog needs, and reveals the location as supporting context.

03 — Site map

Navigation & page structure

Customer-language navigation. Visitors see what they need, not how the company is organized.

Section-by-section layout

The homepage routes all traffic, establishes the brand, and splits visitors into their boarding or training funnel. Every section earns its place.

1
Hero
"Better Care. Better Training. Better Life With Your Dog." Full-width image of dog + trainer. Primary CTA: Get Started. Secondary: Boarding → | Training →
2
Decision router — "What does your dog need?"
The most important section on the homepage. Two cards in customer language:
• "A great place to stay" → Penn Valley Boarding
• "Help learning new skills" → Grass Valley Training
3
Trust strip
★★★★★ Google rating • 40+ years experience • Positive training philosophy • Local Nevada County team
4
Two facilities — side by side
Penn Valley: Stay • Play • Train  |  Grass Valley: Learn • Practice • Grow. Each with photo, location, and service links.
5
Emotional outcomes
"Life with your dog should be enjoyable." Outcome grid — not a service list. A safe place when you're away, calmer walks, better manners, a fun new activity together.
6
Proof — real testimonials
Reviews labeled by service + location. Playfair Display for quotes. "We never worry when Daisy stays here." — Boarding Client, Penn Valley
7
How it works — two paths
Boarding: 3 steps → Training: 3 steps. Parallel numbered flow showing the process is simple and low-commitment.
8
Team preview
"The people behind All About Dogs." 3–4 circular staff photos with names. "You aren't leaving your dog with a building. You're leaving them with people."
9
Final split CTA
Need boarding? → Check Availability  |  Looking for training? → Find a Class. Last conversion point before the footer.

Mobile: persistent bottom bar

[Call]   [Get Started] — visible on all pages after scrolling past the hero. Always one tap from action.

05 — Key page structures

Boarding vs. training — different emotional sales

Both pages follow the same conversion framework, but the emotional approach is tuned to what visitors actually feel when they arrive.

Training class router

The training landing page routes visitors by what they're feeling, not by class name:

"I have a puppy"

→ Puppy Training

"I want a better-behaved family dog"

→ Obedience

"I want something fun and challenging"

→ Agility

"I'm looking for something specific"

→ Specialty & Events

What the customer is really hiring you to do

These "jobs to be done" drive every headline on the site:

ServiceThe customer is really hiring you to...
Boarding"Take care of my dog so I can leave town without worrying"
Puppy training"Help me survive puppyhood and prevent problems"
Obedience"Help me enjoy taking my dog places"
Agility"Give us a fun, challenging activity to do together"
Board & Train"Make meaningful progress while my dog stays with pros"
Day stay"Give my dog activity and socialization while I'm working"

How every page turns visitors into customers

This isn't decoration — it's a system. Every page follows the same psychological sequence, tuned to what dog owners actually think and feel when they land on your site.

CTA rules

Never generic. No "Learn More," no "Contact Us," no "Submit." Every button tells the visitor exactly what happens when they click.

Check Boarding Availability Find the Right Class Get Started

Every primary CTA gets a doubt-remover underneath:

"No commitment. Tell us your dates and we'll confirm availability."
"Takes about 60 seconds. We'll help you choose the right starting point."
"Quick form — just your name, your dog's name, and what you need."

Conversion checklist (every page)

Forms — short first, details later

The Get Started form collects only 5 fields: name, email/phone, dog's name, what you need, and dates (if boarding). Operational details like vaccinations, vet info, feeding schedules, and emergency contacts are collected after the visitor has converted — never in the first form.

07 — Technology
